Sedation Dentistry Danville

Every Patient Deserves to Feel at Ease

For many patients, anxiety or fear about dental procedures can be a significant barrier to getting the care they need. At Southside Dental Surgery, we do everything we can to remove that barrier. We offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation, which is one of the most advanced levels of relaxation available in a dental setting. This means that every patient can receive care comfortably and confidently when visiting our Danville office.

IV Sedation

IV sedation delivers a deep level of relaxation directly into the bloodstream, producing a calm and often sleep-like state while allowing you to remain responsive throughout your procedure. Our practice is one of the few offices in the Danville area to offer this advanced level of sedation in a dental setting, making it an ideal choice for patients with significant dental anxiety or those undergoing more complex procedures. Note that following IV sedation, you will need to arrange for transportation back home.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation allows you to remain relaxed and comfortable throughout your entire procedure, all thanks to a prescribed medication that you’ll take before your appointment. You’ll stay awake and able to respond to physical and verbal commands, but you might feel like you’re sleeping or dreaming due to being in a calm, deeply relaxed state.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

You’ve probably heard nitrous oxide referred to by its nickname: laughing gas. However, this mild form of sedation will not make you begin laughing uncontrollably; rather, it’ll help you relax and feel at ease throughout your appointment. It comes in the form of a colorless, odorless gas and is breathed in through a nasal mask with a mixture of oxygen. As with other forms of dental sedation, you’ll be carefully monitored while sedated, and the settings can be adjusted as needed to ensure both safety and consistent comfort.
