Dental Surgeon in Danville

Get to Know
Patricia Sarcos,
DMD, MD

Dr. Sarcos is a general dentist offering a level of care few providers can. She began her college career as a med student, but she eventually befriended a classmate who was studying dentistry. It wasn’t something she had really been exposed to before, but it seemed like the perfect way to combine her interest in healthcare and natural manual dexterity. She now loves the type of dental surgery procedures she gets to perform, and getting life updates from her patients is always the highlight of her day.

Where Did You Study Dental Surgery?

After getting a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, Dr. Sarcos earned her DMD from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. This was followed by attending UT Southwestern Medical School to obtain her MD.

Dr. Sarcos received five additional years of training through the UT Southwestern/Parkland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program, which included extensive moderate and deep sedation and general anesthesia experience, both as a part of the Dental Surgery program and as a rotating anesthesia resident. She also completed a year's worth of training as a general surgery intern at UT Southwestern, rotating through the vascular and neurosurgery services, amongst others.

She attended four oral and maxillofacial externships before residency at different programs across the country (University of Michigan, Emory, LSU New Orleans, University of Florida- Gainesville). She also has moderate/IV sedation credentials obtained through the DOCS IV sedation course (approved by all state dental boards for IV sedation credentialing).

Dr. Sarcos previously served as the District V Representative for the Resident Organization of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ROAAOMS), the resident arm of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and as a resident editor for the AAOMS OMS Reference Guide, 5th edition.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Originally from Silver Spring, MD, Dr. Sarcos’s parents currently live in Miami, as does much of her extended family. In her free time, she’s an avid indoor gardener (constantly trying to grow her plant collection), art and classical music admirer, and genealogist. When she’s not visiting a museum or going to a concert, you’ll often find her spending time with her puppy, a 5lb. red toy poodle named Lenu. Fun fact: She was on the pre-professional track to become a ballerina before she decided to go to college!
